Why I Built This Way
With over 20 years of experience as a health and safety professional, I thought I understood workplace wellbeing. But in my late forties, I experienced burnout that forced me to pause and look deeper.
Through therapy, I discovered the role that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) had played in shaping me as an adult—both at home and at work. I began to recognize how my own coping mechanisms, developed in childhood, had contributed to my burnout. This realization sparked a passion to help others understand the hidden impact of trauma on daily life, performance, and wellbeing.
I also saw how workplaces, often unknowingly, can contribute to stress and worsening symptoms for those living with C-PTSD. At the same time, I recognized the connection between trauma-informed practices, psychological safety, and healthier, more resilient organizations.
Driven by this insight, I became a Certified Integrative Mental Health Coach through the Nickerson Institute and completed the CMHA Psychological Health and Safety Professional Certificate Training, equipping me to help organizations implement the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety.
To extend this mission, I developed online awareness training for individuals who want to better understand C-PTSD and its impact, as well as programs for workplaces seeking to improve psychological safety. I also created a specialized course for coaches and helping professionals to deepen their knowledge of C-PTSD and trauma-informed care.
This Way was built from both lived experience and professional expertise—with a vision to help individuals, leaders, and organizations build safer, healthier, and more supportive spaces to thrive.
